Description

Porcupine Opportunities Program is seeking full time summer students to support the vocational day program, and residential facilities in Porcupine Plain.  Individuals will work from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm in Day Program and Day/Evening/ shift residentially.
Responsibilities:
-To assist in the development and implementation of appropriate educational, training, social, and recreational programs for the participants of the POP day program.
-To provide continual support and assistance to participants, as a group and on an individual basis.
-To report any and all concerns about participant health or behavior immediately to the supervisor.
-To be familiar with applicable policies and procedures of POP as related to the care of and health and safety of program participants.
-To provide assistance with participant personal hygiene as required
-To provide assistance during coffee breaks and/or lunches as required.
-To ensure that appropriate record books are kept up to date and relevant information is recorded.
-To maintain the overall cleanliness of the program space.
-Other duties as assigned.
Qualification:
-Ability to work with multiple program participants while remaining focused on individuals needs in a busy work environment.    
-Ability to both follow instructions and to think and act independently when needed.  
-Willingness to do duties as assigned in a safe and timely manner.
-Effectively communicate with supervisors, co-workers, and program clients.
-Help lift and support participants, where needed.
-Preference will be given to post-secondary students training in a profession related to working with individuals with disabilities and/or health care.
-Possess a valid Drivers License
Assets (not mandatory)
-Experience working with people with disabilities
-Training in CPR and First Aid
