Description

Reporting to the Manager of Community Living and Community Inclusion Coordinator, the Support Worker for Adult Inclusion creates an open and inclusive environment with the Aspen Trail residents that we support. We value supportive decision making with all our individuals, and compassion and empathy is a virtue!

The support worker provides direct support in a manner that is consistent with the Harbour Landing Village philosophy paired with personalized support plans. We encourage teamwork and open communication with our staff and our residents, while maintaining confidentiality.

Your role will include working with young adults with varying level of physical and cognitive ability. The position requires shift flexibility, requiring open availability. You will be required to accompany, and participate where appropriate, in various activities with the young adults that range from swimming to attending social events.

RESPONSIBILITIES (includes, but are not limited to):

Provides direct support to Young Adults relevant to their personal plans while monitoring the individual's health concerns and emergencies

Provide a nurturing atmosphere for all residents connected to the Aspen Trail care area.

Daily tasks, such as meal planning and preparation, managing and administering medications, and home maintenance.

Planning and implementing leisure activities

Attend regularly scheduled meetings and attend support training

Communicate effectively with the individual's families, management and other support service representatives

Assume any additional responsibilities as directed by the manager and coordinator.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience working in the vulnerable sector
CPP&SP
Transfers, Lifts and Repositioning (TLR)
CPR
The following are assets, but not required: Person Centered Thinking, Gentle Teaching, MANDT or PART.
