JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
The Early Childhood Educator collaborates closely with all other members of the program team to provide nurturing care and education to young children in a group setting, under the supervision of the manager; in accordance with the goals and curriculum plans of HLV and our mandate to be there for kids in an inclusive environment. This position is critical in developing trust with children, detect issues and have open communication with the children and their families.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES NOT LIMITED TO:
Responsible for the constant supervision, safety and well-being of the children
Recognizes and responds to the needs of each child by using developmentally appropriate teaching and child behaviour management techniques
Shares in the responsibility for planning, preparing and implementing stimulating, age-appropriate activities that encourage childrens creativity and learning and promote each childs social, emotional, cognitive and physical development
Establishes and maintains regular communication with parents through the centre manager
Ensures the program operates at all times in compliance with all childcare licensing standards
Shares responsibility for maintaining program equipment in good repair; assists with toy/equipment disinfecting
Performs other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Daycare Director and/or designate, and immediate supervisors.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- ECE Level 2 or 3 Ministry Certificate.
- Play and Exploration Certificate Level 1 and/or 2
- Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector dated within the past 3 months.
- First Aid and CPR.
- Completion of WHMIS.

Early Childhood Education Skills
- Provide opportunity for creative expression through the mediums of art, dramatic play and music
- Provide supervision and guidance of daily activities, field trips and special activities
- Prepare progress reports and discuss with parents and other staff members
- Knowledge of licensing regulations
