Description

Summary

The Care Companion is responsible for acting as a resident companion as directed and providing comfort and support to residents via companionship through different levels of activities. You will work directly with our residents and patrons, and spearhead activities daily. We encourage teamwork and open communication with our staff and our residents, while maintaining a level of confidentiality.

This position requires shift flexibility, as some events may be evening or weekend events and activities. You will be required to accompany and participate in activities both at Harbour Landing Village, as well as out on excursions.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

Provide companionship and/or accompany residents to activities and events within the Harbour Landing Village community or external appointments.
Assist in the planning, organization, and implementation of meaningful and fulfilling activities and programs for the residents, in collaborationwith theClient Relations Team
Encourageand trackresidentparticipation in variousprograms
Ensures that the emotional, spiritual, physical comfort and safety of our residents are met to the greatest possible extent
Observe and document client conditions according to Harbour Landing Village emotional or general day to day standards;report unusual events or changes in the clients condition to the immediate Supervisor
Work with a variety of residents that need socialization and companionship, as directed
Redirect, de-escalate and provide impromptu activities and suggestions to assist residents and address emotional needs
Understand and learn resident profiles and care plans to build personalized and genuine relationships

QUALIFICATIONS:

Customer service or hospitality experience
First Aid CPR Certificate
Transfer, Lift and Repositioning Certificate
Food Safety Certificate

Flexibility and openness
Open availability and willingness to work a variety of shifts as needed, including evenings and weekends
