Job Description: The Saskatchewan Cancer Agency (SCA) provides leadership in health promotion, early detection, treatment and research for cancer at our two cancer centres, the Allan Blair Cancer Centre in Regina, and the Saskatoon Cancer Centre.
Provincially, we provide services to around 10,000 patients annually and our radiation oncology services account for 2,400 patients annually. Our goal is to deliver safe, person-centric care; we value teamwork, and encourage colleagues to work together.
Our Radiation Therapy department delivers various types of radiation techniques, including:
Stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT)
Stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS)
High dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy
Total body irradiation (TBI)
Pediatric radiation oncology
Both of our Cancer Centres use the following equipment for treatment delivery and planning:
Varian linacs (mix of TrueBeams and iX)
Siemens Confidence CT
HDR Brachytherapy-Oncentra
Orthovoltage unit
Varian Eclipse treatment planning system
In-house 3D printing for clinical needs
The Radiation Therapist I is responsible for preparing, planning and delivering accurate and precise ionizing radiation treatments to cancer patients according to the prescription of a Radiation Oncologist. The Radiation Therapist I reports to the Provincial Leader or Site Manager of Radiation Therapy with daily work functions supervised by a Radiation Therapist II.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Radiation Therapy
Certification for Basic Life Saver (BLS)-C
Licensed with Saskatchewan Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (SAMRT)
