The Rockglen Childcare Centre (RCC) is a new non-profit daycare that provides childcare for children between the ages of 18 months and 12 years. The RCC is currently seeking applications for a full-time Early Childhood Educator (ECE). The Early Childhood staff reports directly to the Centre Director. Wage will be based on education and experience. Employees working 24 hours or more per week will be eligible to receive health and dental benefits
Education and Other Requirements
Formal ECE education, which may include:
Minimum of ECE Level I (3 classes) from a recognized college or equivalent (or willingness to obtain. Tuition costs 100% reimbursed); or
Two-year diploma in Early Childhood Education from a recognized college or equivalent; or
Valid First Aid/CPR-C (or willingness to obtain).
Current criminal record check including a vulnerable sector check.
18 years of age or older and must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Skills and Abilities (the following are not required, but would be an asset)
Experience in an early learning and childcare environment.
High level of emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills.
Safe Food Handling Certificate.
Strong communication (oral and written) and organizational skills.
Understanding of the Child Care Regulations, 2015 and the Child Care Act, 2014

Early Childhood Education Skills
- Provide opportunity for creative expression through the mediums of art, dramatic play and music
- Provide supervision and guidance of daily activities, field trips and special activities
- Plan and develop child care and nursery school programs
Early Childhood Educator Assistant Skills
- Prepare craft materials and assist children to use them
- Prepare and serve snacks
- Guide children in development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits
- Conduct and monitor activity programs designed for young children
- Bathe, diaper and feed infants and toddlers
Ability to Supervise
- 16-20 people
