Duties and responsibilities:
Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the purchasing activities of the company and implement changes to improve efficiency and cost savings
Develop purchasing policies and procedures and control purchasing department budget
Identify vendors of all kinds of goods including frozen food items, beverages, household goods, dried goods, canned food, kitchen supplies, hardware, etc.
Evaluate cost and quality of goods to be purchased
Responsible for managing and monitoring logistic procedures, warehouse management policies, quality control standard, cold chain standard, and transportation and delivery system
Strategize to select the best fit vendors to strategically partner with to ensure quality and delivery.
Negotiate the price, buying program for the best overall value for materials/items that are purchased.
Review and negotiate all company annual contracts.
Work with operations and planning to maintain low inventory levels
Serve as liaison with operations, quality assurance and vendors to identify defective goods and determine corrective action.
Job Requirements
Bachelors Degree with a Supply Chain Management Professional designation will be a plus.
Minimum 3 years of experience in purchasing management
Proven leadership skills to establish an efficient team and dynamic working environment is required
Excellent organizational, analytical and decision-making skills
Excellent time management skills
Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
Strong communication skills with ability to build strong relationships with various stakeholders, suppliers and internal departments
Capability to coordinate suppliers and partners from multi-cultural backgrounds
Solid understanding of both the Canadian market and the Chinese supply network is a plus!
