La Loche is a community of around 2,600 people located on the eastern shore of Lac La Loche in Canada's boreal forest. Dene is a language spoken by 89% of the population in La Loche.  La Loche Housing Authority provides social housing to low-income seniors, families, and others who could not otherwise access, safe, secure housing within La Loche and the neighboring communities.

The La Loche Housing Authority (LLHA) has an opportunity for a permanent, full-time Maintenance Supervisor.  If you are hardworking, self-motivated, and skilled in building and property maintenance, we'd love to hear from you!

The Maintenance Supervisor represents the Housing Authority and brings the ability to encourage and participate in positive working relationships with tenants, employees, contractors, service providers, and respects people's diversity and individual differences.

Reporting to the Manager of the La Loche Housing Authority, the position manages the day-to-day operations of the maintenance program, tenders, and oversees contracted work to ensure work is completed to standard and to develop and deliver an effective preventative maintenance program.

The ideal candidate will have a well-rounded knowledge of the basic techniques in a variety of trades including carpentry, plumbing, painting, flooring, and electrical. Knowledge of or experience in estimating, purchasing materials, and accounting are an asset. Good judgement, the ability to supervise, plan, and coordinate employees and work tasks are needed. You will have the ability to organize and participate in an on-call program for emergencies for evening, weekend, and holiday coverage.

A Grade 12 education supplemented with experience or some post-secondary trades training OR equivalent combination are an asset.

A valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and an approved Enhanced (Vulnerable Sector) criminal record check are conditions of employment.
