Description

MGBHLM First Nation is seeking (1) qualified full time Special Education Teacher who will be working under the supervision of the Mosquito Principal.

Under the direction of the Principal, the Special Education Teacher will help in the preparation and presentation of programs; assist and reports on student progress; supervises student(s) and performs a variety of tasks which are supportive of program delivery

Experience working with special needs and learning disabilities
Experience in delivering specialized instructional strategies
to students with special needs
Duties/Responsibilities
    Liaise with other classroom teachers, school psychologists,
        learning disabilities specialists, speech/hearing specialists,
        and social workers to provide an integrated plan for
        developing the capacities of their students.
    Plan and prepare courses and subjects in accordance with
        policy and curriculum
    Incorporate First Nations curriculum and ways of learning into
        all programs.
    Update parents on the progress of their students and enlist
        parental support with behavior control and home activities
        designed to supplement their classroom lessons.
    Supervise and train teaching assistants
    Reading and interpreting psycho-educational reports and
        writing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
    Communicate effectively and in a timely manner with the
        Education Director, Principal, teachers, and parents of
        students.
    Participation in staff meetings, supervisory duties, after
        school extra-curricular activities
    Participate in community programs that link the school to the
        larger community
    Understand and develop reporting requirements for AANDC
    Draft proposals for specialized education
    Other duties as required
