Description

As an important member of an interdisciplinary team, The Youth Care Worker is primarily responsible for the care & supervision of the clients Age 12-17. This position works alongside the Addiction Counsellors and reports to the Clinical Supervisor. This role functions as a key member of the interdisciplinary team, by Utilizing a client-centered approach which provides youth with a safe environment to work through their presenting issues in a safe environment.

The Youth Care Worker must be able to provide proactive solutions when addressing complex and challenging behaviors. Given these challenges, The Youth Care Worker must have the ability to recognize potential safety risks to the wellbeing of self, clients, staff, and others and adapt as the situation arises.

Qualifications & Core Competencies
A certificate or diploma in Human Services including Child and Youth Care work or an equivalent combination of experience and training is preferred, but not essential.
Awareness of Aboriginal culture and language is an asset.
Ability to work independently and/or on a team.
Excellent communication skills including ability to effectively communicate with youth.
Possess, or be willing to obtain, First Aid/ CPR; and
Valid drivers licence/ satisfactory criminal record and child abuse registry check. (Vulnerable Sector required)
