Description

Part 1 Objective: Run after-school Canoe/Kayak programming for Youth

Part 2 Objective: Run CKS Youth Canoe/Kayak Summer Program at Montreal River Outpost.

NOTE: Part 2 position is conditional on Canada Summer Jobs funding.

Task to include:
- Recruitment of Indigenous Youth;
- Take National certification for basic coaching skills in the sport;
- Attend Regular meetings with CKS Paddling Director (PDD),
- Administrative duties and computer tasks;
- Planning, development and execution of summer on-water and on-land programs;
- Coaching athletes;
- Designing and executing team-building activities;
- Equipment maintenance.

Required:
- Able to work evenings and weekends (if required)
- Can get to Montreal River Outpost daily (ex. Access to car)
- A criminal record check will be required as a condition of employment.
- Applicants for Part 2 must meet Canada Summer Job requirements

Helpful Assets:
- Indigenous ancestry
- First Aid / CPR certification
- Paddle Canada or NCCP canoeing/kayaking certification
- Coaching experience
- Bronze Cross/Medallion or NLS
- Paddling equipment repair skills/experience

Applicants are:
- A self-starter who can be counted on to independently perform the  tasks the job entails
- Driven to help others and share your passion for paddling
- A good communicator, comfortable speaking to groups in a friendly and engaging manner
- Flexible to switch from one duty to the next
- Comfortable using computer programs
