Description

The City of Prince Albert is accepting applications for a Seasonal Summer Wastewater Treatment Plant Relief Operator in the Public Works Department.

Function
Employees in this position are required to assist operations, directed by a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator, through the duration of their duty. This position is meant to provide relief during a seasonal period (approx. April 15  September 15) with additional demands at the plant.

Supervision
Reporting to the Out-of-Scope Manager or designate, performs duties, with direction supervision from the operations/maintenance staff, according to clearly defined procedures.

Duties and Tasks
Assists in relieving duties of Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators and assumes the Operator's schedule and duties.
Assists in performing of repair and maintenance work at the Wastewater Treatment Plant and sewage lift stations.
Operate relevant equipment as required (i.e. Loader, Bobcat)
Follow the Act, Regulations and policies of Occupational Health & Safety.
Follow Acts, Regulations, Bylaws, Agreements, policies and procedures.
Perform other related work as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Proven ability to accept responsibility and demonstrate leadership.
Working knowledge of current operating systems, spreadsheets, word processing and database applications.
Ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions both verbally and in writing.
Ability to learn and adapt quickly, and work with minimal supervision.
Ability to deal effectively with co-workers.
Good organizational skills.
Ability to multi-task and pay attention to detail.
Ability to maintain accurate records and compile data.
Demonstrated basic mechanical and electrical understanding.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
