Grounded in First Nation culture and values and drawing on personal strengths and traditions of families, the Maternal Child Health Worker (MCHW) will support cultural pre- and post-natal care, traditional parenting support and practices, breastfeeding education, participation in ceremonies, land-based activities and FASD education and support.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Establish a trusting and supportive relationship with prenatal and postnatal clients
* Encourage and promote healthy lifestyle choices
* Provide cultural support with access to Elders, Parent Mentor, Traditional Parenting, and ceremonies
* The MCH worker will implement prevention programs through mentorship with pre/post- natal clients for Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD).
* Assist in linking pre/post-natal women to supports and services available to them locally, regionally, and provincially.
* Be knowledgeable about trauma informed nutrition.
* Assist in increasing immunization rates by providing information, resources, invitations, and school-aged immunization consents.
* Provide cooking classes for prenatal and breastfeeding Moms and their partners every 2 weeks.
* Participate in the wrap around process with clients and their families.
* Providing opportunities for new moms and their families re: Birth Registration, birth certificates.
* Ability to prioritize tasks and work assignments.
