Description

Job Summary:

The Prevention Department provides service along a continuum to assist customers with the development and implementation of safe work environments. Health and Safety Consultants work side-by-side with customers to deliver primary prevention strategies and their responsibilities include relationship building to understanding employer operations, assessing existing safety programs to identify areas needing improvement, and recommending solutions through reports and presentations.

Qualifications:

Two (2) years successfully completed post-secondary including course work in Occupational Health and Safety or other related fields, or eligibility for certification as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional; and three (3) years of successful experience demonstrating:

Expertise in occupational health and safety management system (SMS) development, implementation and improvement.
Collaborative consulting experience, leading SMS improvements in workplace setting
Comprehensive knowledge of provincial and federal occupational health and safety legislation.  
Competent (Advanced level) in a number of computer related software applications e.g. MS Office (Word, Power Point and Excel); Lotus Notes; web-based meeting and training software.
A high degree of resourcefulness and ability to organize work, accurately complete assigned tasks and accept responsibility to work independently or as a member of a team.
Willingness and ability to travel frequently including overnight stays.
Good written and interpersonal communication skills.
Sound judgment, problem solving skills, ability to make effective business decisions.
Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships and partnerships with stakeholders, internal operational departments and other external organizations.

This position is a field position. As such, it is necessary for an individual to have a valid class 5 drivers license to occupy the position.
