Description

The Saskatchewan Research Councils (SRC) Rare Earth Element Division has a career opportunity for a Mechanical Designer/Technologist to provide design and drafting for SRCs Rare Earth Processing FacilityNorth Americas first fully integrated, commercial, demonstration facility with hydrometallurgy, separation and metal smelting units. Join a growing team that is working to establish a rare earth element (REE) technology hub in Saskatchewan, forming an industry model for future commercial REE initiatives and supply chain development.

Accountabilities
Prepare 3D models and 2D mechanical drawings including general arrangement drawings and detailed drawings for chutes, dust collection and piping systems
Create detailed designs and layouts of mechanical systems such as HVAC, mechanical equipment and piping systems  
Review designs for accuracy, completeness and compliance with specifications; modify designs as necessary based on feedback from engineers
Coordinate with other disciplines to integrate piping designs into project plans
Support engineering efforts with design concepts, equipment specifications and procurement activities  
Provide support during the construction phase, including responding to inquiries, reviewing shop drawings and resolving design-related issues

Qualifications
A diploma in mechanical engineering technology engineering design and drafting technology or design and manufacturing technology (formerly CAD/CAM)
Minimum five years of relevant experience working in mechanical design, preferably in industrial or engineering consulting environments
Experience with AutoCAD, Inventor, Vault and Plant 3D is preferred

The chosen candidate will be required to provide an original Criminal Record Check that is satisfactory to SRC prior to the commencement of any employment duties. The Criminal Record Check must have been executed within the preceding 30 days of receipt.
