Description

Nakoda Oyade Education Centre (NOEC) is seeking a full-time Guidance Counsellor for the 2024/2025 school year. NOEC is a Pre-K-12 school with approximately 275 students enrolled. The school is located on the Carry the Kettle First Nation between the towns of Sintaluta and Montmartre SK.Working under the direction of the School Principal the Guidance Counsellor will provide academic support to student inquiries pertaining to course content and course completion for success for Graduation from NOEC (k-12) and Chief Long Lodge Education Center (Adult Ed). This role will counsel students on course selections according to selected educational pathways.  The position will prepare letters, memos, and emails daily and converse professionally with students, parents, guardians, agents, teachers and other staff. The position will identify students strengths and weaknesses to develop solutions and action plans to promote realistic academic and career goals for student success. Performs administrative practices to maintain updated electronic files and notes on individual students and be able to save relevant links, articles, and other helpful information and data resources in an organized fashion. Working collaboratively in a team environment the position will refer families to Prevention Services as required.  The Guidance Counsellor will demonstrate a strong commitment to the planning for improvement process in support of student learning.
Education and Experience:
Bachelors Degree in education, social work, psychology, sociology, justice or a related field.
3+ years stable work experience in a Guidance Counsellor role with experience working with secondary students
Experience adhering to the Standards of Practice and Ethical Standards for the Teaching Profession with administrative reporting and providing support services efficiently
Proven success in program coordination and administration with proven success in advising and mentoring graduating students
