Description

Integrated Justice Services supports the objectives of the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General, the Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety and the Firearms Secretariat and responds to the safety and well-being needs of communities.

The Victims Services Branch within Integrated Justice Services is actively seeking a highly-skilled, assertive, and confident individual to join our team in the role of a Victim/Witness Specialist. Located in La Ronge, you will provide specialized court-based services to victims and witnesses of crime, with a focus on children and other vulnerable witnesses.

In this position, you will be responsible for:

- Preparing your clients on how the court processes work, explaining to them what it means to testify and ensuring clients understand what they should expect when they are testifying;
- Assessing what the needs of your clients are and providing them strategies in order to manage their stress and anxiety to ensure safe and effective testifying;
- Working cooperatively with Crown prosecutors to support the criminal court process by providing client assessment information and outlining intervention strategies to be taken by the court;
- Reviewing training manuals, policies and procedures and providing new and innovative changes to them to make them more effective;
- Developing and facilitating information sessions and modules using language appropriate to the audience in order to enhance client service; and,
- The supervision of one part-time administrative support position.

Typically, the successful candidate will have developed their knowledge and skills through the completion of a Bachelor of Social Work or Human Justice degree and related working experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
