Description

Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Special Projects Coordinator will be responsible for advancing the objectives of Square One Community's strategic plan. Key responsibilities include spearheading the planning and development of a Supportive Housing Hub based at William Milne Place. This encompasses policy and program development, staffing, and fostering collaboration with community agencies. Additionally, the role involves guiding, training, and directing staff and volunteers to ensure the successful execution of projects. Education and background in health sciences, social work, addictions and/or psychology preferred.
Specific focus will be directed to the following activities:
    Provide a welcoming space during designated hours of operation to individuals who are housing insecure/homeless. Support as required which includes referrals to appropriate agencies, providing information, teaching how to navigate barriers and learning the needs of the population.
    Connect with other housing entities and cultivate relationships that invite collaborative work and interagency cooperation to best serve targeted populations and improve service continuum.
    Update Service Mapping
    Update and distribute the Meal Offerings and Cold Weather Strategy
    Provide leadership for future PiT counts.
    Actively research and pursue sustainable funding for supportive housing. Seek grant funding for special projects.
    Oversee development of a supportive housing program which includes housing recovery plans and skills development for those housed at William Milne Place. Determine requirements of individuals to secure and maintain housing and assist them in pursuing goals of stable housing. Enlist community support in these efforts.
    Determine the unmet housing demands of the population and provide recommendations for program development.
    Provide regular updates on social media accounts and website
    Administrative tasks
