Job Description: Reporting to the Manager of Primary Health Care NW-N, this position offers a variety of experiences throughout SHA (Former Keewatin Yatthe RHA) including providing nutrition expertise to patients (clients, residents) throughout various SHA facilities and community settings to achieve nutrition and health outcomes. The dietitian is responsible for providing medical nutrition therapy through primarily individual outpatient counselling with a focus on chronic disease prevention and management. This position also provides services in acute care, long term care, and acts as a consultant in food services. The successful candidate will have the ability to function independently and as a member of an interprofessional team in a culturally sensitive manner.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor Degree in Nutrition or Dietetics
Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor Certificate, or required to obtain within 1 year of employment
Registered or eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan Dietitians Association
Valid Class 5 driver's license
Experience
-Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) strongly recommended
-Demonstrated knowledge related to chronic diseases and their management including diabetes, kidney, cardiovascular, respiratory and other chronic conditions.
-Requires teaching/counselling/group facilitation abilities and skills, and an interest in patient education
-Understanding of the social determinants of health and issues impacting Indigenous peoples
-Ability to work effectively with a variety of clients, families, and other health disciplines
-Experience in or understanding of program planning, management, and evaluation
-Able to work with a team, with self-direction and minimal supervision
-Fluency in Cree or Dene
