Description

Employer Job Number: GO-00758718
Facility: Environmental Services North
Job Description: The manager provides operational leadership for the planning, organizing, directing and monitoring the provision of consistently high quality, efficient, cost effective Environmental Services (including linen/laundry and waste management) for the North Network. The manager will be responsible for multiple sites and often an aging infrastructure. This poses a risk for the organization, as it is important to ensure that the services are maintained at a level that is safe, clean and esthetically pleasing for patients, residents and staff. Impact to the organization is significant as the condition of the facility is vital to promote confidence in the services provided and contribute to a positive SHA reputation.

Major challenges include:
- Maintaining the cleanliness of often aging facilities, ensuring that transmission of infectious organisms is limited through proper cleaning techniques and best practices..
- Establishing collaborative working relationships and partnerships with multidisciplinary team members situated in a variety of locations.
- Having a working knowledge of legislation and standards, such as infection control and occupational health and safety that continuously change.
- Completing safety incident or dangerous occurrence report investigations, follow-up and resolution for reporting departments.  The position often has responsibilities for incident resolution for investigations that originate from other departments in a facility.
- Managing a staff complement that often has a high turnover rate requiring a contingency plan.
- Being a good steward of resources (financial, human, products and services) by creating efficiencies through standardization and workload levelling while maintaining safety and quality. This will often be co-managed with the EVS Spe
