PURPOSE AND SCOPE
MGBHLM First Nation is committed to approaching health and wellness initiatives proactively. Under the direction of the Public Works Manger, the Water Treatment Plant Operator(Trainee) will be assisting in the management, implementation and maintenance of the water/sewer services for the Public Works Department.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Operate and monitor computerized control systems and all related equipment in water filtration at treatment plant to regulate the treatment and distribution of water;
Read flow meters, gauges and other recording instruments to measure water output and consumption levels, bacterial content and chlorine levels;
Daily monitoring and inspection of the plant equipment and systems to detect equipment malfunctions and to ensure plant systems are operating normally;
Ensure the collection and delivery of daily water samples for chemical and bacterial content;
Analyse water lab results and instrument readings and make adjustments to plant equipment and systems as required;
Complete and maintain water plant and pumping stations logs with regards to all aspects of daily operation and occurrences;
Operate and monitor computerized control systems and related equipment in sewage transfer station to regulate the flow of sewage through settling, aeration lagoons to treat and dispose of sewage waste;
Perform daily routine water lab tests of water treatment process for parameter and to determine efficiency of treatment.
