Description

REACH is a charitable, non-profit organization supporting independence through accessible, affordable, and nutritious food options and programs in our community. We do this through several food security and education programs.

We are seeking an outgoing, creative, and organized person for the new position of Education and Community Connection Manager. This role will primarily develop and deliver cooking classes and other education programs, while also building connections between REACH and partners in the community. This position will be integral part of growing and expanding REACH's programs in the community.

Responsibilities
Develop lesson plans and deliver cooking classes for children 10 and under in partnership with schools and community organizations.
Plan and prepare meals for the Summer Lunch Program.
Stay up to date on information and best practices related to nutrition and cooking skills for youth.
Communicate with external stakeholders including community based organizations, schools, and health professionals to promote and deliver programs.
Develop and deliver nutrition related presentations to a variety of groups.
Maintain accurate and complete records of project activities.
Research potential future education programs.
Supervise summer staff.

Qualifications
An undergraduate degree in health promotion, nutrition, education, or other relevant field, or a combination of education and experience.
Experience working with youth.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
A general understanding of cooking skills, kitchen safety, and other food preparation skills.
Safe Food Handling Certificate and First Aid Certificate, or willingness to obtain.
An understanding of issues related to nutrition and food security.
Satisfactory criminal record check.
Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
