The Mechanic inspects, diagnoses, repairs and services mechanical, electrical and electronic systems and components of school buses, and other Division owned vehicles.
Education & Qualifications:
Valid journeyperson certificate in Automotive service technician or Truck and transport mechanics. Apprentice mechanics 3 or 4 year may be considered.
A minimum of Grade 12 diploma from a recognized educational institution as approved by the Board of Education of General Educational Development (GED)
A vehicle safety inspection certificate
A valid Class 1-5 drivers license
A minimum of two (2) years experience in school bus or heavy equipment repair
A minimum of two (2) years experience with gas, propane, and diesel engines
Must have own tools
Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently in a time sensitive environment
Must be very safety conscious
Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
Note: Consideration will be given to applicants who are in their 3rd or 4th year apprenticeship program and/or do not meet all of the minimum certification and experience requirements
