Summer Student Position - Family Treatment Recreation Worker - SUMME003003-00001

Position: Full-time Term (June 5 - August 30,2024)

This position is offered through the support of the Government of Canada-Canada Summer Jobs Program. All applicants must meet the minimum requirements of that program (see below). This position will support the Family Treatment Programs recreational programming for the summer months by organizing, planning, leading and participating in family based activities that provide a therapeutic benefit to participants.
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
must be between 16 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
was registered as a full-time student during the preceding academic year;
intends to return to school on a full-time basis during the next academic year;
is a student in post-secondary, vocational, or technical program;
is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act* and;
is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.
Education and Professional Certification
Completion of a high school diploma.
A certificate, diploma, or degree in child and youth care, recreation or related field is an asset.
Experience
Up to one (1) year of experience working with children, youth, and/or families.
Experience working independently with diverse populations.
Skills and Characteristics
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Employees must hold a class five (5) novice two (2) or higher drivers license and be eligible for coverage under our commercial auto insurance policy.
