Description

We are seeking a proactive, experienced, and dedicated Safety Coordinator to join our team.  This position will be responsible for overseeing safety operations throughout the company and ensure compliance with all applicable safety laws, company policies and industry standards.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Monitor and enforce compliance with provincial OHS legislation, company policies and COR requirements.
Conduct regular shop and site inspections to identify hazards and ensure safe work practices are followed.
Maintain and update the Health and Safety Management System, ensuring all documentation is accurate and current including risk assessments, procedures, and safety manuals.
Coordinate and track safety training through the company's training matrix system and verify worker competency, ensuring training certifications are up to date.
Investigate incidents, near misses and accidents, preparing detailed reports, root cause analysis, and recommending corrective actions to prevent re-occurrence.
Ensure proper use of PPE and that safety protocols such as hot work permits, fire watch and fume extraction systems are in place.
Conduct Toolbox talks and safety meetings
Maintain emergency response plans and first aid equipment
Organize fire drills and train employees on emergency preparedness
Participate in internal safety audits and COR certification processes.
Collaborate in the development, improvement, and continuous enhancement of safety programs and initiatives to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
Be a part of the OHS Committee, tracking minutes, posting and keeping records of previous minutes, addressing safety concerns, helping to maintain a safe working environment for all our employees.
Qualifications:
Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, Safety Officer Certification
Minimum 2 years of experience
