The Saskatchewan Ministry of Energy and Resources Saskatchewan Geological Survey Branch (SGS) is responsible for investigating, managing, and distributing information on the geology, and mineral and petroleum resources of the province. SGS has an exciting and challenging opportunity in our Regina office for a highly motivated and committed Geophysicist with excellent interpersonal, cooperative and leadership skills.
SGS is seeking a candidate that is knowledgeable in safely planning and executing modern geophysical surveys, as well as processing and analyzing the acquired data. The successful candidate will undertake research projects using advanced geophysical interpretative techniques, such as inversions of potential field data, to assist in the development of geoscience models at a variety of scales while working in close collaboration with the SGS geoscience and data-management teams. You will make your research results available through timely preparation of technical reports, maps, 3D models and presentations. The ability to collate large data sets, familiarity with modelling in the 3D environment, and programming skills that could aid in predictive modelling, are all assets. The successful candidate will contribute to an environment that recognizes, supports, respects, and welcomes diversity of employees and stakeholders.
We are seeking an innovative forward thinker who can effectively manage and organize resources, deal with changing priorities and tight deadlines, has the ability to work independently and, as a contributing and supportive team member, to complete assignments and achieve common goals. The successful candidate will require a Master of Science degree with acceptable specialization in geophysics, relevant work experience and be registered (or eligible for registration) in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan.
