Description
The Garden Sales Associate position is fast-paced, involving constant interaction with customers to assist them with their lawn and garden needs. Helping customers is combined with activities such as stocking, watering and caring for nursery stock.
MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Meet, greet and thank customers
-Provide customers with friendly, informed service about nursery stock and related products
-Suggest value-added and related products
-Maintain nursery stock in healthy condition
-Stock shelves and display areas
-Keep the garden centre neat and tidy
-Participate in ordering and replenishing nursery stock
-Locate products in the warehouse
-Control inventory accuracy & identify and report low stock
-Keep informed of promotions and in-store deals
-Adhere to company, store and department policies
-Follow store health & safety program and observe provincial occupational health & safety regulations
-Participate in meetings and all training, as required
-Complete other tasks, as required
MAJOR REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES
-Knowledge of nursery stock and horticultural products
-Ability to provide professional customer service and employee support
-Ability to work in a team environment to achieve common goals
-Ability to maintain composure and work effectively in a fast-paced environment

There are also physical demands that must be met, including the ability to stand/walk for extended periods, lifting and carrying of material and/or product.
