Duties and Responsibilities
The Manager of Transportation is responsible for managing 100 drivers, 6 mechanics, 4 bus shops and 95 bus routes. The Manager of Transportation will report directly to the Supervisor of Transportation. Specific duties include but are not confined to:
-Responsible for all aspects of the operation of all bus routes (including scheduling and routing)
-Overseeing ,Monitoring and Communicating with bus drivers and mechanics (hiring, training, orientation and evaluating)
-Monitor fleet condition and maintaining a preventive maintenance program
-Communicating with parents and assigning bus service for students
-Keep current on traffic regulations and Vehicle Standards
Qualifications
-The candidate should have excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrated knowledge, ability and skill to appropriately manage and support transportation staff, ability to prioritize multiple demands, and to work independently.
-Previous experience in student transportation services would be an asset a journeyman mechanic, vehicle safety inspection certificate or other relevant diplomas or certificates.
-Minimum Grade 12 Education or GED
-Hold and maintain a valid "Class 1-5"driver's license.
