Description

Communications and Research Coordinator

This position provides and facilitates internal
and external communication including research,
government policy analysis and interpretation and
advocacy as well as providing input on a variety
of projects and publications.

Duties:
 Prepares all levels of government briefs and
information documents for Ministers and other
government officials
 Engages in systematic advocacy and policy change
as directed and participates in government and
community-based opportunities to review social
policy that affects the lives of people with
intellectual disabilities and their families.
 Engages in primary research and information
gathering in order to keep stakeholders informed
about the work of the Association.
 Projects may include writing and editing books,
writing in-house publications and promotional
materials, creating press releases, advertising
and writing funding proposals.
 Ensures that the interests of the Association
are maintained by engaging in committee work and
by keeping abreast of developments in the media
and in all levels of government.
 Maintains the Associations website and social
media applications

The successful candidate must possess solid
communication and interpersonal skills and public
speaking skills as well as sound knowledge of
issues facing individuals with intellectual
disabilities and their families. Skills in public
relations and the building of partnerships are
essential. The ability to work with a broad range
of individuals and groups, and to elicit
productive collaborations, are also required. A
relevant degree and at least 3 years of related
experience working with government policy and
communications are essential. Subject to criminal
record check.
