The Ministry of Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport (TPCS)'s communications branch has an exciting opportunity for a creative, energetic and motivated communications consultant who is relatively new to the field, is looking to make an impact, and has strong interpersonal skills to join their team.
As the successful candidate you will write communications plans, news releases, speeches, articles, program messages, and website content for various branch and Ministry activities and events. You will organize media events, and at such events provide communications advice to various Ministry officials, and coordinate/respond to media requests. You will be proactive, organized, diplomatic and flexible in order to respond quickly and positively in a demanding work environment.
The successful candidate will be creative, and will look for new and innovative ways to promote the Ministry, and create awareness of TPCS programs. To do this effectively, the successful candidate will be required to have knowledge of communication theories and principles, speech-writing techniques, media relations, event planning and project management, planning and evaluation.
Typically, this knowledge would have been gained through a degree in Journalism or Communications (or related area) and relevant experience. An understanding of Saskatchewan's tourism, cultural and heritage products, provincial parks, and the Royal Saskatchewan Museum would be an asset.
Candidates must clearly indicate in their covering letter or resume where they have acquired their knowledge, skills and abilities. Selection of candidates to be interviewed will be made on the basis of this information.
