Description
About the Position
The SYICCN is seeking an individual to fill the role of Provincial
Outreach Coordinator. The position requires the individual to
have an understanding of the Child Welfare and Youth Justice
systems and a passion to work with youth from government
care. In this position your primary role will be to be responsible
for developing, generating and sustaining youth and member
contacts as well as maintaining contact with and providing
support to SYICCN members and local youth in care groups in
the province.
Additional Skills/Experience
-demonstrated experience working with youth
-experience in the child welfare/youth justice systems would
be an asset
-experience working with socially and culturally diverse
groups
-critical thinking, decision making, task planning and
problem solving
-working with others and communication
-finding information
-Computer Skills (Mac/PC, Word Processing, Database
Mgmt., Email, Internet)
Conditions of Employment
-must provide a criminal record check and vulnerable
persons check which meet policy guidelines;
-must possess a valid Class 5 drives license or able to
obtain one in a set time (6 mos.)
-must provide a current Drivers Abstract
-must be available to work some evenings, weekends and be
available for overnight travel
Education
Essential
Grade 12 certificate or equivalent thereof (GED/ABE12)
Asset
Technical/Applied Certificate
Post-Secondary Degree (currently in or finished) in Social
Sciences, Humanities, Human Justice, Social Work.
