Description
The Stewardship Coordinator is responsible for the delivery of stewardship programs on Nature Conservancy of Canadas owned properties in Saskatchewan. Responsibilities include:
1. Land Stewardship
- Develop baseline inventories
- Develop/Implement property management plans
- Design/implement effectiveness monitoring
- Deliver noxious weed management program
- Manage revegetation of cultivated cropland to native species
- Supervise contractors and consultants
- Administer contracts, grazing leases, invoices, and budgets
- Supervise/hire/train Conservation Interns
2. Partnerships
- Establish/maintain positive relationships with landowners and local community
- Deliver various extension/outreach events
- Plan/implement Conservation Volunteers Program events, with others
- Represent NCC on various committees and at meetings or workshops
3. Communications and Fundraising
- Assist with proposal/material development for use in fundraising
- Assist with writing articles for internal/external communication documents
Skills and Aptitudes:
- Bachelors Degree in agriculture, ecology, conservation biology or related discipline with 3-5 years of experience
- Knowledge of agricultural practices including range/riparian/invasive species management, restoration
- Problem solving, planning and organizational skills, and attention to detail/timelines
- Working in a team setting / able to work independently
- Working with land owners to implement stewardship programs
- Proficient with MS Office Suite, databases , ArcGIS software
- Public speaking/presentations
- Writing reports, plans, proposals, and business correspondence
- Willingness to acquire Pesticide Applicators License, First Aid certification, and Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists membership (if eligible)
- Self-motivated, time management skills, work to meet deadlines
- A flexible schedule, including weekends, and work outdoor conditions
