The Ministry of Justice, Buffalo Narrows Community Operations is seeking a confident and positive role model to join their team to work with a high risk client group.

As a Probation Officer, the successful candidate will deliver services to adults who are placed on Probation, Bail Supervision or Conditional Sentence by the court.  You will be required to supervise an urban and/or rural caseload.  Your duties will include preparation of Court reports; completion of risk assessments  to determine specific needs of offenders; development and implementation of offender case plans including the use of specialized risk assessment tools to incorporate relapse prevention.  You will be responsible for violation reports, home/community assessments, community collateral checks and curfew checks.  You will respond to victims of criminal offences and collaborate with community agencies, victim resources, police and other government personnel to provide an integrated approach to offender management and supervision in the community.  You will work flexible hours, which may include evenings and weekends, in potentially high risk situations and under high workload demands.  You will be required to travel and operate a vehicle in the city and in rural areas.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of the Criminal Justice System, theories and intervention strategies and indicators and dynamics of addictions, domestic violence, poverty, mental health, disabilities, family relationships, abuse and neglect and their impacts.  The successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal skills, the ability to engage resistant individuals and the ability to accurately assess, develop and adjust case, treatment and intervention plans based on client needs.
