The Saskatchewan Production Centre that performs prepress and layout functions for the Saskatchewan newspapers has an opening for the position of Page Editor.
The Page Editor will edit and layout local and/or wire pages, as well as secondary products, for the Saskatchewan daily and community newspapers, as assigned.
If assigned to local pages for satellite operations, act as the newspapers representative at the Centre, working closely with the Managing Editor and Reporters at the newspapers office. He or she will serve as a liaison between the Centre and the newspaper.
Work closely with the news editor to take content, including stories and photos, and determine the best page layout design for each publication.
Work with accuracy and speed in building pages, maintaining a high level of quality.
Identify appropriate content coming from the satellite newspaper staff and edit it as necessary.

Requirements:
Post-secondary education in journalism, English, or equivalent experience
Community newspaper experience, an asset
Must be familiar with Mac-based operating system and be able to learn new programs currently being developed for this site
Strong knowledge/skills with Quark and the Adobe suite of programs including Photoshop
Ability to function as part of a team
Ability to communicate effectively and clearly
Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines
Confident and competent grasp of the English language, grammar, punctuation, and spelling
Solid judgment
Extensive knowledge of CP style
