Description
Summary:
Based in La Ronge and reporting to the Senior Dental Therapist, the Dental Assistant will assist the Dental Therapist and supervising dentist in the dental health program, provide education and promote oral health care and perform other duties as required. Travel to other communities including overnight stays and travel by small aircraft will be required.
To qualify, you will possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Membership in and licensure by the Saskatchewan Dental Assistant's Association is required
- Knowledge and experience in intraoral procedures as defined by the Dental Assistant scope of practice
- Ability to teach oral hygiene (e.g. clinic contact, classroom teaching or presentations)
- Knowledge of universal precautions for infection control
- Ability to liaise with other health care professionals, community groups and families
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Must be highly self-motivated
- Strong interpersonal and public relations skills with the ability to deal effectively with a variety of clients
- Excellent organizational and decision making skills
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to Aboriginal culture and cross-culture issues
- Valid driver's license
