Reporting to the Teacher Librarian/SRC Manager, this position provides technical services to support the professional collection. The Library Technician provides reference and readers advisory service and ensures efficient circulation of materials in the Stewart Resources Centre for STF staff, teachers and the general public.
Typical responsibilities include: cataloguing print and non-print materials into the automated library system; handling specific requests for books or articles which are received from patrons; and providing guidance to patrons in locating information.
The successful applicant will have a Library Technician Certificate or Diploma supplemented with 2-3 years of cataloguing experience using automated library systems. Experience in an education library and/or a strong knowledge of the K-12 education system is a definite asset. Preference will be given to a candidate who is bilingual or has the ability to read and write French. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
