ENGINEER, GROUND CONTROL

POSITION AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Working with the mine engineering team, you will provide
expertise and direction for a wide range of underground
geotechnical areas including ground support design, ground
control monitoring and planning, rock mass classification and
other geotechnical data collection, grouting and ground
stabilization as well as, performing stability analysis of mine
extraction sequences. You will also be responsible for developing
and maintaining programs for ensuring quality control for the
mine ground support installations. In addition to being the
geotechnical subject matter expert, you will be expected to
provide general support in mine planning, hydrogeology and
dewatering, ventilation and mine projects. You will occasionally
provide vacation coverage for engineering supervisors.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements of the position:
Bachelors degree in geotechnical, geological or mining
engineering
Four to eight years of previous ground control experience in an
underground mine
Equivalent combination of education and work experience will be
considered
You must be eligible for registration with the Association of
Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan
(APEGS)
Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft
Assets:
Experience with conventional longhole stopping in weak rock
masses
Computer modeling and instrumentation installation experience
Strong communication, leadership and computer skills
