The Saskatchewan Disease Control Laboratory is seeking a well-organized, highly motivated and reliable individual to work as an integral member of their management team as the head of the sample reception area in the Environmental Services Section. The primary job duties include: supervision, leadership and mentoring to area staff; revenue administration and reconciliation for all financial records; processing of environmental samples including entering sample information into a database and preparing samples to be analysed for chemical and biological contaminants; and responding to a wide range of customer requests using exceptional customer service skills.
Other responsibilities include: separating specimens according to sample source and assignment of accession numbers; generating reports, mailing and faxing of results; and distributing labels, handouts, bottles and requisitions. This position will be expected to handle biohazardous materials and toxic chemicals.
The successful candidate is able to complete assignments within deadlines while experiencing frequent interruptions. You will also be able to lift up to 40 pounds and shake gallon-size samples of water on a regular basis, be standing or sitting for extended periods of time, and perform duties at high levels of concentration.
