The Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure has a challenging opportunity in a number of locations for a highly motivated individual who is interested in a career as a Highway Traffic Officer.  Your primary goal will be to protect the highway infrastructure and ensure the safety of all highway users by monitoring commercial vehicle compliance with National Safety Code requirements and Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance standards through the operation of permanent Commercial Vehicle Inspection Station and portable weigh scales and mobile patrols within a designated geographical location.  The Ministry has a number of permanent positions and will also look at a number of geographically specific locations within the province with exception of the large city centers.

As a Highway Traffic Officer, you will enforce transportation legislation, policies and agreements for commercial vehicles traveling on Saskatchewan's provincial highway system.  You will be responsible for checking commercial vehicle operators for licensing, certification and insurance, inspecting commercial vehicles for safety, weights and dimensions, permits and registration.  Your duties will include conducting roadside inspections, laying charges, appearing in court, conducting investigations and preparing reports.  Your exceptional interpersonal and communication skills will be used to interact with team members, other enforcement and government agencies, as well as the transportation industry.
