Description
The Saskatchewan Ministry of the Economy is seeking a research geologist to join the Saskatchewan Geological Survey Petroleum Geology Unit. As a successful candidate, you will join a team of geoscientists who encourage and support the exploration, development and effective management of Saskatchewan's petroleum and natural gas resources by assembling, analyzing and reporting on geological and geophysical data submitted to government through regulation. You will make stratigraphic picks on geophysical well logs using drill cuttings, drill cores and stratigraphic cross sections. You will supply stratigraphic information to head office and field offices. You will also conduct stratigraphic and sedimentological studies of sedimentary strata, primarily in southern Saskatchewan's subsurface, and aid senior researchers in carrying out their projects.
The successful candidate will have knowledge of the principles of stratigraphy and sedimentology as well as knowledge of the geology and stratigraphy of Saskatchewan. The successful candidate will also be a self-motivated individual capable of working both independently and in a team environment and will be thorough, conscientious and attentive to detail.
To qualify for this position, you will require a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology and be registered (or be eligible for registration) in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan.
