Description

Saskatchewan Labour Relations and Workplace Safety is recruiting for an Occupational Health Officer to promote and enforce compliance with The Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993, and regulations focusing on the construction and manufacturing sectors. The position is located in Prince Albert and  involves traveling throughout the province to inspect workplaces, investigate fatalities and serious injuries; initiating prosecutions where warranted, support workplace occupational health committees and worker representatives; educate, deliver training and advise workers and employers on health and safety matters; and help resolve disputes over occupational health and safety concerns.
                                                                                                              
Our candidate of choice will have proven analytical skills and have demonstrated the ability to effectively apply occupational health and safety principles and strategies in the promotion and enforcement of regulations and standards. Your success will be reinforced by your significant knowledge and experience pertaining to fundamental health and safe work places, safety techniques and requirements as well as principles and processes of injury and illness prevention.

Typically, the knowledge and abilities required for this position would be obtained through the completion of a degree, diploma or journeyperson designation preferably in the mechanical or construction trades, and/or significant experience in the forestry industry, combined with accredited training and experience in occupational health and safety.
