Cargill Specialty Canola Oils (SCO) is an industry leader in the development, production and marketing of high oleic oil - a trans fat-free alternative for the food industry known for its superior nutrition, improved stability and excellent taste. Reporting to the Trial Manager, you will be responsible for the execution of research protocols for successful performance evaluation of candidate hybrids including all aspects of field trial management.
Accountabilities:
- Manage field research trials including land selection and contracting, site development, and all aspects of agronomic trial management including seeding, spraying, maintenance and harvest, and data submission; supervise a team of summer interns
- Maintain, repair, and acquire research equipment to support the achievement of a high performance research program in coordination with the Western Canada Research Team
- Conduct special projects including identification of improvements related to successful research trial management
- Provide technical and marketing support to the Sales Territory Managers to promote the Victory Brand
Required:
- Post secondary education in Agriculture or related field
- Minimum 2 years experience in the Agriculture industry with agronomy experience
- Minimum 1 year small plots field research experience
- General knowledge of canola production and research methodology
- Ability to travel to support west Canada Breeding and Agronomy operations during summer and possession of valid Class 5 driver's licence and clean abstract
- Ability to work in outdoor environments and with canola pollen
- Working knowledge of MS Office including Word and Excel
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada on a non-temporary basis
Preferred:
- Mechanical aptitude with strong knowledge of farm and research equipment
- Possession of valid Class 5G or 1A driver's licence
