Description

The Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre is a community-based organization that assists members of our community with emergency food supplies and learning opportunities. We value collaboration, dignity, inclusion, and community development.

Dates of employment: May 20, 2013 to August 23, 2013

Work Environment:
    Working outdoors
    Working with people from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds

Duties:
      Day-to-day maintenance of the urban agriculture projects, including planting, weeding, etc, if required
     Organizing and maintaining project supplies
     Supervise and train site volunteers, if required
     Collect relevant data and information required for reports
    Assist with special events and workshops
    Contribute to an empowering atmosphere where clients, volunteers and coworkers are treated with respect and dignity

Qualifications
    Some experience working in a garden, either personally or in a work environment
    Strong leadership qualities and ability to work with limited supervision
    Valid drivers license and access to vehicle would be considered an asset
    Able to lift up to 50 lbs

Eligibility Criteria:
    be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
    have been registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year;
    a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and
    be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
