Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager on site, the primary role of the Shaft Engineer is to coordinate the activities of Shaft Technicians and shaft operations. The Shaft Engineer will be responsible for enforcing standards to ensure safety, quality of testing and reporting, and organizing shaft engineers to tackle issues which may arise. The Shaft Engineer will complete assigned tasks and assignments given by the Engineering Manager / Senior Shaft Engineer. He/she `will help provide the necessary direction to the Shaft Inspector crews for the construction and development of all facilities, infrastructure, and excavations, both on the surface and underground, and to complete tasks, assignments and requests from Engineering Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Bachelor's degree in Mining, Civil, or Mechanical engineering.
- Minimum of five (5) years Underground Mining or Shaft experience.
- Some vertical shaft development experience is necessary.
- Professional engineer or EIT qualifications are advantageous.
