Simpson Seeds Inc., a family-owned, Moose Jaw-based company, has grown to become the largest privately-owned specialty crop exporter in the province. With four locations and over 30 years of experience in the buying, processing and selling of specialty grains, our growing company now employs over 100 people and exports worldwide to over 70 countries.
We are recruiting for a key management position of PLANT OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR at our Moose Jaw Main Plant location. Reporting to the Director of Operations and managing a team of Operators, the incumbent is responsible for the effective day to day management of our grain processing operations. Specifically, this includes managing new hire and continuous training, plant coordination/workflow, general operations, quality assurance, staff management, general administration and working with our maintenance, shipping and buying group.
The successful candidate will possess the following essential skills:
- Proven experience and results in a management role in a manufacturing or operational setting
- Knowledge of grain/plant processing, practices and policies is a significant asset.
- Previous experience in a supervisory role is required.
- High School Diploma with some post-secondary training in business or management.
- Excellent leadership, consultation, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to foster and maintain trusting relationships with stakeholders.
- Superior attention to detail and excellent organization skills. Ability to adapt to changing work conditions.
- A commitment to safe work practises.
- An intermediate working knowledge of MS Office products - Word, Excel and Outlook.
- A valid drivers license.
