Under the direction of the Health Program Manager with clinical supervision provided by Saskatoon Tribal Council Program Coordinator, the Maternal Child Health Worker will work collaboratively with community staff to improve the health and social outcomes for pregnant women and families with infants and young children.
The MCH Worker will provide support, information and linkages to other programs or services to foster healthy parenting and healthy child development. Community specific needs will be identified and programming will be determined incorporating the strengths of the individual and their families, other staff, programs and services and the community.
RESPONSIBILITIES and DUTIES:
1)Adhere to the Personnel Policy as set out by the Chief and Council.
2)Maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
3)Possess an effective understanding of Saulteaux culture and spirituality; Establish and maintain contacts with community cultural resources to assist with the implementation of services and supports
4)Efficiently and effectively carry out administrative duties
5)Home Visiting Role - Take the lead role in contacting individuals as identified through home visiting; Serve as a positive role model, etc
6)Carry out referral responsibilities
7)Be willing to work flexible hours
QUALIFICATIONS:
*Certificate or Diploma in a social/health science, human services and/or equivalent training and experience
*Certification in the following areas will be considered an asset: Training of Trainers in the Home Visitors Program, ASSIST, Mental Health First Aid, Life Skills Coaching and/or training in facilitation, Early Childhood Education, Family Systems Therapy, and Counseling Skills
*Experience (2 years) working with First Nations mental health, addictions, specifically as it relates to women and their children and family
