The Ta-Wa-Si Recreation Site Coordinator is responsible for planning and developing programming as well as supervising site staff at one of three community schools. At these sites you will plan recreational games, crafts and cultural activities for youth ages 6-13, Monday to Friday.
The successful candidate will exhibit a high level of organizational aptitude, creativity and an awareness of the overall YMCA mandate. Empowering youth and building trusting relationships with program participants and parents is an integral part of the site coordinator position. Previous experience working with kids and planning activities is essential. The successful candidate will act as a role model to program participants, and possess an inspiring and motivated approach to working with children and people. First aid is an asset as well as knowledge of aboriginal culture and the specific needs of Reginas core community. A valid Drivers License and access to a vehicle is mandatory for this position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan activities for school sites
Supervise and facilitate programming in school sites
Manage all sport equipment and craft supplies
Complete daily statistical reports
Provide mentorship for other staff and youth
To distribute snacks to participating youth (provided by REACH)
Hours: Approx. 35 hr/wk for July & August (with the possibility for future employment in the Fall)
