The MLTC Health & Social Development Department is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill a term position ending March 31, 2015 as the Addictions Advisor. The Addictions Advisor will promote community wellness and practice a holistic approach to living a healthy lifestyle. This individual will establish a collaborative working relationship and provide support to the nine (9) First Nation Health Coordinators, Community Counseling Support Workers, and Addictions Workers.
The Addictions Advisor will participate as an active member of the MLTC Crisis Team in providing 2nd level crisis response services to the First Nation communities. He/she will implement, demonstrate and adhere to the MLTC Health & Social Development Wellness/Mental Health Program Manual and will implement professional standards of practice among the First Nation Community Counseling Support Workers.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or other related areas of expertise from a post-secondary institution of recognized standing.
- Five (5) years of experience and demonstrated knowledge in Mental Health and Addictions Counseling combined with experience in coordinating First Nation community based programs.
- A combination of equivalent education and relevant work experience may be considered.
- Certification in Chemical Dependency is considered a valuable asset.
