Description

QUALIFICATIONS:    

Bachelor of Social Work/Indian Social Work.

Knowledge of First Nation policies and legislations, Saskatchewan Child and Family Services Act, the FSIN Child Welfare and Family Support Act, Policy and Procedures Manual for Family Centered Services (MSS), and other legislation;

Knowledge of various First Nations culture.

Must possess a working knowledge of the principles, and techniques of interviewing, case management, and crisis intervention;

Main Functions:

Provide child protection services- to children and families;

Work with others in the community in preventative care and maintenance;

Formulate and implement casework plans, in collaboration with others, and counsel families with the goal of maintaining the family unit;

Investigates & evaluates reported cases of neglected, abandoned or abused children;

Coordinates CPS investigation process related to the child and family;

Knowledge of all standards when children are taken into care;

Coordination of support services when children are taken into care;

Providing voluntary placement services;

Assist with adoption & post adoption services transfers when needed;
