Description

Our client one of Canada's leading mining
organizations has an immediate opening for a 2nd
Class Chief Power Engineer at their facility in
Weyburn Saskatchewan.

Key accountabilities for the Chief Power Engineer
include:

    Ensure compliance to all regulations,
directives, licenses, and permit requirements for
the plant.
    Provide direction, leadership, and
coordination for the operations activities.
    Manage the performance, hiring, training,
mentoring, and succession planning of Operations
personnel
    Coordinate with other Operations
Supervisors and Chief Power Engineers to ensure an
appropriate level of consistency
    Review new work requests, ensure accuracy,
and approve for core team consideration
    Create and enforce operational procedures
and policies
    Perform hazard assessments
    Establish and ensure effective
communication with Operations personnel
    Participate in and lead incident
investigations and root cause analysis

The ideal candidate for this position would
possess:

    5+ years of power plant experience
    Certification as 2nd Class Power Engineer.
Supervisory experience in a unionized environment
    Working knowledge of OH&S requirements and
Saskatchewan Environmental Permitting

Other competencies include:

    Strong verbal and written communication
skills
    Demonstrated leadership skills
    Ability to work in various working
conditions (dust, noise)
    A sense of urgency and ownership when
dealing with emergent situations

 - Recommend personnel actions such as hiring and promotions
 - Develop and manage operating budget for area of responsibility

 - Water and waste plant operators
 - Petroleum, gas and chemical process operators

 - Supervise, co-ordinate and schedule activities
 - Recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality
 - Provide information for maintenance plans to ensure that maintenance and production objectives are met
 - Identify, investigate, correct and document potential environmental and safety problems
 - Establish work schedules
 - Co-ordinate work activities with other units
